Statutes

Welcome to the DWM Web page on statutes. This page is designed to meet your needs in understanding Kentucky's statutes that apply to waste management. These statutes can also be read from the Legislative Research Commission home page.

Kentucky's statutes are grouped by topic, with each topic being assigned to a particular chapter. The chapter containing the major elements of Kentucky's environmental protection laws is KRS Chapter 224; however, there are other chapters that address specific areas of environmental protection, such as KRS Chapter 350 on surface mining and KRS Chapter 151 on geology and water resources.

The provisions in a given chapter are grouped into sections, subsections, paragraphs and subparagraphs based on common factors. For more complex statutes, chapters are divided into subchapters and the subchapters are divided into sections.
