Personnel and Adminstrative Support Section

This section performs four main functions for the division. These functions include the following:

Coordinating Personnel and Other Human Resource Matters for the Division
All paperwork regarding hiring, promotions, reclassifications, disciplinary actions, employee grievances and employee evaluations are handled by this section. This section also maintains current personnel statutes, regulations and  policies applicable to division staff and is available to assist division employees with questions on personnel or other human resource matters. Division employee personnel files are housed in this section. The section supervisor serves as the Equal Employment Opportunity counselor, as well as the Americans With Disabilities Act counselor.

Coordinating Training, Educational Assistance and the Leadership Development Series
Employees' requests for training: in-house, outside vendor, computer or educational assistance are all handled by this section. Reimbursements for professional licensing fees and continued education for certain professional licenses are also handled here. Each employee’s training is tracked in the PATHLORE system, the tool used by state government to document training histories for all state employees. Monitoring of employee training histories for accuracy and completeness is done in PATHLORE by this section. This section also coordinates the division’s Leadership Development Series, a monthly forum of one-hour presentations designed to enlighten division staff on relevant technical, management or other issues pertaining to the cabinet or state government.

Coordinating Paperwork for Travel Reimbursement, Uniform/Boot Purchases and Inventory/Surplus Oversight
All employee requests for reimbursement for travel expenses are handled in this section, via the e-MARS system. Further, employee uniforms and boot purchases are coordinated here. This section also maintains oversight for the thousands of items in the division’s inventory and arranges the disposal of unused or out-of-date items through Finance Cabinet’s surplus process. This section purchases safety equipment, including personal protective equipment for division staff. A collateral duty includes the ordering of business cards and office nameplates for division employees.

Staffing the Division's Central Switchboard
The division receptionist is the first contact with the hundreds of callers who phone the division each week. This person’s main duty is to efficiently route calls to the proper staff member and to provide the ultimate in customer service for each caller.  This person also greets visitors including guests, permit holders or other members of the public who have business with division employees. This position is also responsible for updating the division’s referral directory and for training new administrative staff on the switchboard equipment.
