The Local Assistance Section provides hands-on assistance to Kentucky counties as they develop and implement solid waste management plans. Plan components include data on garbage collection, disposal, illegal dumps, litter abatement, recycling/reduction, public education, enforcement of solid waste laws and solid waste facility siting. Local Assistance staff conduct site visits to monitor implementation of the solid waste management plans.
Counties are required to submit annual solid waste reports. These reports are compiled into statewide reports which provide statistical and analytical information on solid waste disposal, garbage collection, recycling, litter and illegal dump abatement, solid waste education and enforcement of solid waste laws.
