However, all of this information is available by contacting the agency contact listed after each set of publications. This page only contains nonregulatory publications.

Recycling and Local Assistance (RLA)
1. Resource Guide on Household Hazardous Waste Management - provides guidance and information on proper waste management practices for household products containing hazardous chemicals.
2. Commonwealth Cleanup Week Literature - promotes a yearly program to clean up litter and dumps statewide.
3. How to Organize a Volunteer Cleanup Event - helps local officials and community groups implement the litter and illegal dump cleanup portion of their solid waste management plan.
4. Solid Waste Management Resource Guide on 109 Districts - explains and clarifies the Kentucky statute (KRS Chapter 109) that allows counties to establish special boards or districts for managing solid waste.
5. Guidelines for Preparation of Area Solid Waste Management Plan - Plan Years 2008-2012 - outlines update requirements of an area solid waste management plan.
6. Steps for Amending Area Solid Waste Management Plan - outlines a step-by-step procedure to add or delete information in an approved area solid waste management plan.
7. The Planning Edge - periodic bulletin on solid waste planning aimed primarily at local officials and solid waste coordinators.
Kentucky Recycling and Marketing Assistance (KRMA)
1. The Kentucky Recycling and Marketing Assistance Program- pamphlet provides an overview of the KRMA program.
2. Community Recycling Guide - manual for planning and operating a recycling center.
3. Recycling Facilities - directory of regional, state and local facilities.
4. Market Opportunities - booklet listing buyers of recovered materials.
5. The Marketplace - monthly newsletter with regional prices on nine commodities as well as news briefs for recycling facilities and end users.
6. Buy Recycled…It’s Good Business - membership pamphlet describing the Kentucky Buy Recycled Alliance.
7. School Recycling Guide - provides information to teachers on implementing a recycling program at school.
8. Recycling Facilities by County - listing of known recycling centers organized by county.

Hazardous Waste Management Program
1. Universal Waste - brochure that explains the four types of "universal wastes" in Kentucky and briefly describes the requirements.
2. Rechargeable Battery Brochure - A brochure that provides information to consumers about which household rechargeable batteries are recyclable, how they are regulated and where they may be dropped off.
3. Lead Acid Battery Brochure - A brochure for consumers that provides facts about lead batteries, how they are regulated and where citizens may take them to be recycled.
4. Spent Lamps and the Universal Waste Requirements - Six-page brochure that describes the requirement for spent lamps (containing mercury, lead or cadmium) and ballasts.
5. Kentucky Corrective Action Program - A page that describes the Kentucky hazardous waste corrective action program and provides answers to many questions pertaining to corrective action.
6. Handbook for Hazardous Waste Generators - 29-page document that covers basic information about what is a hazardous waste, what is a generator, who is likely to generate hazardous waste, how to register and report, what are generator responsibilities, how to ship waste off-site, and more! We also offer a Web page titled Fact Sheet for Hazardous Waste Generators and a one-page centerfold pullout sheet that provides EPA codes for the different types of hazardous waste generated by small quantity generators.
7. Directory of Spent Lamp Recyclers - A Web page directory listing 39 lamp recyclers nationwide.
8. Resource Guide on Household Hazardous Waste Management - this document provides guidance and information on proper waste management practices for household products containing hazardous chemicals.
9. Hazardous Waste Permitting - How You Can Get Involved - 10-page brochure describing the public participation process including public notices, public meetings, hearings, how to appeal final decisions and more.
10. Managing Automotive Repair Shop Wastes - A Guide for Automotive Repair Shop Operators - brochure that identifies the proper management for many wastes commonly generated at automotive repair shops.
